This is a very special garden, with glorious views, lots of unusual plants, both native and cultivated, and a newly discovered water-garden.
There are bluebell woods, a wildflower lawn, and lots of specimen trees including a large Hankerchief tree (Davidia).
The garden was established by Commander Collett in the middle of the last century, and it is said that he arrived here with one pantechnicon of furniture and two of plants!
Since then it has been used as a nursery for rare plants and subsequently became very overgrown.
In the last few years a great deal of clearance has taken place which you can see in the more pictures category of photos.
We would like to show you why we think it is special.
It is very likely that some of the photos of plants have got into the wrong albums or been wrongly identified, do please contact us if you find that this is so.
This site is still in the process of being prepared, so please excuse its deficiencies, but we hope you enjoy it as it is :-)
